Applying for a degree in Chemistry Education
Before you apply to the College of Education you should be able to answer the following questions:
Have you...
- applied and been accepted to Kennesaw State University? And if you are a transfer student, has your transcript been completely evaluated by the Office of the Registrar? If not, contact the Office of Admissions and enroll now.
- declared your major as or changed your major to Chemistry Education? If not, change it now.
- completed at least 45 semester hours of accredited college coursework, including ENGL 1101, ENGL 1102, EDUC 2201, and EDUC 2202 with a grade of C or higher?
- passed the Regents Test? If not, sign up now.
- passed Praxis I OR received a 1000 or greater on the SAT, 1030 on the GRE, or 43 on the ACT?
If you can not exempt the Praxis I test, sign up now.
Do you...
- have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 for all attempted hours in the core curriculum and lower division courses for this major?
- have an adjusted or cumulative GPA of 2.75 for all completed coursework AT Kennesaw State University?
Lastly, do you believe you...
- exhibited responsible, professional behavior in all your classes, field experiences, and interactions with peers and faculty?
- can exhibit a potential for success in this program?
- can maintain an adjusted or cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher?
If you answered yes to everything above, then...
- Get two instructors to fill out a recommendation form for your entrance into the Teacher Education program. At least one must be either your EDUC 2201 or EDUC 2202 instructor.
- Fill out and turn in the consent form to have a criminal background check run on you.
- Fill out and turn in the Teacher Recruitment form which explains why you chose to become a teacher.
- Get approved for admission by the Admission and Academic Standing Committee of the Chemistry Education program.
- Submit an application to the Teacher Education program.
